Just download the Leadership Interviews you wish to review to your iPod®, MP3 Player, PC, or laptop and listen when it’s most convenient, be it during your daily walk, a break in your day, or when you have a few moments at home. So you don’t miss out on future postings, remember to bookmark Leadership Interviews and come back often!

As is the case with everything we do at Dorland Healthcare Information, your input and participation is important to us; it helps improve the practice of case management for everyone. If you or someone you know would like to participate in our Leadership Interviews series, or if you have feeback on any of the interviews posted here, please contact Anne Llewellyn at allewellyn@dorlandhealth.com.

As our practice is rich in leadership, the first series of interviews which began in May 2007 focused on the Past Presidents of the Case Management Society of America who had a direct impact on the establishment of the Case Management Society of America as well as setting the groundwork for which succeeding case managers would practice. Each President chose a topic that they felt was important for the practice to better understand and explore. If you have question or comments on a specific interview, please feel free to email directly to the presenter. Each President was more than willing to share his or her contract information with listeners and glad to dialogue with you.

Utilization Management and Congruent Care Across the Continuum

“To be a true patient advocate, you have to know your clinical standards, but you also have to be able to discuss insurance benefits, financial ramifications, resources for those patients — and not just (resources) related to your area, but across the benefit. Because if a patient has a limited benefit, it’s not how best it can be used in just your setting, but how using that benefit is going to affect the patient’s treatment overall. We’ve got to see the big picture to be able to guide our patients to their best outcomes.”
